June's Landscaping

Whole-systems approach to the design, construction, and maintenance of the landscapes.

What Are The Principles Of Landscaping Design?

Landscaping, more than any other design activity, is an artistic and creative process. There are some principles of landscaping design that are important to consider when designing or implementing a landscaping project. Principles of landscaping design are not rigid rules you must follow, but rather guidelines you can use to create a beautiful landscaping design.

Landscaping can be organized around a central theme, such as a beach or garden. In this case the principles of landscaping design would be to use complementary colors and elements in the various landscaping elements you use. This approach makes it easier to match your landscaping design with your surroundings. Using similar colors, elements and texture in various elements will give a seamless overall effect.

Another principle of landscaping design is the basic concept of circulation. A well designed landscaping design should allow for passive recreation, which includes walking, jogging, horse riding, or simply taking a walk at all times. In order for circulation to take place naturally, a wide variety of plants should be used and water should be drained regularly. Some landscaping tips include increasing the permeability of the pavement, eliminating underpasses and driveways and planting low-growing grasses along walls and walkways.

Water is another important principle of landscaping design, and the amount of water used and the frequency with which it is used is dependent on the type of landscaping project. Creating water gardens or patios requires the same amount of water as for a traditional lawn, but will require more frequent waterings. Creating small lakes or ponds requires less water, but will require more frequent draining so that excess water does not become saturated and pooling underneath the surface of the ground.

Landscaping is a large subject that involves many different principles. In order to complete even the simplest landscaping project, there are a number of different principles that need to be considered. These include such things as sunlight, wind, water, privacy, edginess, and building restrictions. Many landscaping designers choose to incorporate one or more of these principles when designing a landscaping project. For example, if one’s yard is located in an upscale neighborhood, there may be many different options when it comes to deciding on the different landscaping styles.

The first principle of landscaping design deals with the amount of water that should be used. One might think that the amount of water used would be based only on the amount of water that is visible from the property, but this is not the case. It is also important to consider how much rain the landscaping receives and how much moisture it will have to support any plant life that may be placed on the property. There are several landscaping options that deal with the use of water based upon the seasons and the amount of water that are available in each season.

A second principle of landscaping design involves the concept of privacy. No matter how much landscaping one may do on a property, it is important to make sure that the landscaping design does not interfere with one’s neighbor’s enjoyment of his or her own property. There are some landscaping designers who will allow their clients to place whatever they like on their landscaping property, and this is always a good option. However, placing a sprinkler system, motion sensor lights, or other landscaping features that will allow for a safe and quiet night of enjoyment is a good choice to make.

Principles of landscaping design cover a variety of different topics that people can learn about in order to complete even the simplest landscaping task. Some landscaping designers will even provide ideas that are not mentioned here, as they tend to have a good amount of experience in landscaping design. Anyone who is interested in landscaping should consider talking to a landscaping designer about the best ways to approach any landscaping project.
